Lennart Andresen

Lennart Andresen - Germany based illustrator

Probably all this started when I was two or three years old. I was the child who was drawing diligently and his proud parents collected and saved the output. I must confess that most of these pictures showed cars. Then a teacher at school told me I might be better to start drawing human beings. Pretty insightful at first, I heeded his advice which made me pass the entrance examination of the Folkwang University in Essen. There I focused on Fine Arts and Typography. The reason for now being right back were it all started: Luck? Long term practice? Well I'm happy to say that it feels great whatever the reason. Question: What drew you to illustration/design? Lennart: Starting in my childhood, I have always drawn a whole lot and during my studies I have voluntarily started act drawing. Question: Do you have any formal design training? Lennart: I have a diploma in communication design, passing with distinction. Question: Where do you live? Lennart: In Cologne. Question: Can you describe your studio for me? Lennart: Small and tidy. Question: What is your biggest inspiration? Lennart: 70´s apartment buildings and industrial areas. Question: How do you get the best ideas? Lennart: I have no idea! Question: What technique do you use? Lennart: Mainly photoshop, but I can also do it the old-fashioned way with paintbrush, pen and color. Question: Tell us about a fovorite project you have recently completed. Lennart: I like job variation, so putting some jobs together. Question: What would be your dream job/Commission? Lennart: Hmmmm….. Question: Who are your illustration heroes? Lennart: Jean Giraud, Evan Hecox, Egon Schiele. Question: Do you keep a scetchbook? Lennart: Not any more and I guess I will not get one again. Question: What are your hobbies? Lennart: Biking, Snowbarding, Oldtimers. Question: If you were not an illustrator, what would you be? Lennart: In the best case, race driver, but presumably rather anything... dispatch rider? Question: Who would you like to meet? Lennart: I don´t know, would it even be possible to have a proper conversation? Question: If you could travel back in time, where would you go to? Lennart: Beginning/middle of the 60´s. Question: What kind of music do you listen to? Lennart: Anything electronic: Extrawelt, Klartraum, Lusine, Mathew Jonson, Peace Orchestra. Question: What is the funniest thing you have ever done? Lennart: I will rather not tell! Question: If you won the lottery, would you still work as illustrator? Lennart: Presumably yes. Question: Do you collect anything? Lennart: Oldtimer parts which you don´t need when you have them, but definitely need them, when you don´t have them Question: Do you have a favorite game? Lennart: Colin McRae DIRT on the X-Box.
