Soleil Ignacio's Photo - Fashion & Beauty illustrator. Manila

Social Reach Instagram: 42,800 Manila-based fashion illustrator Soleil Ignacio has developed a unique mixed media approach that enables her to highlight skin, hair, eyes and garments in ways that no other artist can. Her expert use of shading, rich palettes and individual take on beauty make Soleil one of the Philippines’ most exciting illustrators.
She decided to start illustrating when she was working on a magazine as an art director and therefore understands every brief she receives from a client perspective. While her first inspiration was probably The Little Mermaid – whom she endlessly drew as a child – creative influences include Alphonse Mucha, Aubrey Kawasaki, Antonio Lopez and Artaksiniya. Soleil studied Visual Communication at the College of Fine Arts, Manila.

Approach

After working up her sketches in pencils and adding a bit of watercolor, Soleil will scan the work in and continue developing it in Photoshop. She keeps her color palette quite spare and even when an image has a lot of detail in it, she’ll ensure an even overall feel.

Style

Feminine, edgy and strong, her style combines expressive, stylized main strokes with a touch of realistic detail. She balances textures and negative space to emphasize certain areas of her illustrations, and has a particularly special way of drawing hair.

Client list

Soleil has worked for clients including Jo Malone London, Seventeen, La Mer, Tory Burch, Vidal Sassoon, Luis Vuitton, L’Oreal, Hervé Chapelier and MilkX magazine.
