Judith Van Den Hoek's Photo - International Fashion & Beauty illustrator. Netherlands.

Social Reach Instagram: 16.9K Dutch fashion illustrator Judith van den Hoek has a natural talent for capturing the style and essence of each garment and collection she draws through her simple yet expressive line work. In addition to working for top fashion houses and private collectors, her editorial illustrations are in high demand.
Judith absolutely loves watching documentaries about Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino and Isabel Marant. They’re a great source of inspiration for this fashion illustrator who keeps herself constantly informed via haute couture magazines, blogs and books. She studied at the Grafisch Lyceum in Rotterdam, and then chose to specialise in fashion illustration. So she took a one-year course on this subject in Amsterdam before becoming a fulltime illustrator.

Approach

Photoshop is core to Judith’s process. Sometimes she’ll sketch by hand at the beginning of a project, but the application really unleashes her ability to paint images that look clear, fresh and natural, even though she uses digital tools.

Style

Minimalism and simplicity are what make Judith’s fashion illustrations stand out. One or two simple brush strokes help her to convey beauty, sensuality and creativity in a very direct way. From there she adds just the right amount of colour and detail to make the image exciting and different, bringing to it a personal touch.

Client list

Vogue, Givenchy, Net-a-Porter, Burberry, Schwarzkopf, The Sunday Times, Seventeen, The Economist, Jason Wu for Target, Grazia, Little Black Book and Wella are just some of Judith’s clients.
