Vicky Scott

Vicky Scott - International collage illustrator. UK

A versatile and imaginative artist, Vicky Scott uses a whole range of media from paper collage to digital painting to create images in her signature style. Her quirky, colourful and nostalgic illustrations thrive on a sense of optimism, which makes her work excellent for lifestyle publications, ad campaigns and decorative projects.
Currently based in Sheffield,, Vicky draws inspiration from the natural world, Art Deco architecture, 60s psychedelia and artists like William Morris, Alphons Mucha, Aubrey Beardsley and Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. With her mixed media approach, she gives her images a sense of depth, with a physical, tactile quality. She attended the Wimbledon School of Art and Design for foundation, and then went to the University of Brighton to gain a BA in Illustration.

Many of Vicky’s illustrations are created as handmade paper collages. She follows a complex process that involves sketching, then planning the piece on her computer in Photoshop. She then prints it out, traces it and uses the tracings to cut out her paper shapes, which are assembled and glued into place.

Highly figurative, with bold, exaggerated forms, big colours and lots of retro touches, Vicky’s work also has a strong narrative element to it, making an impact and following it up with a story.

Vicky created a suite of illustrations for us to use at The Postal Museum and we are absolutely thrilled with them. They are playful, true to the museum collection and the colours are beautiful. They meet the brief perfectly and will be used in a range of ways, from promoting activities on the website to bringing to life resources for families. Vicky is great to work with – she carefully listens to the requirements, asks questions, and responds timely and thoughtfully to feedback.

Vicky is a hugely talented illustrator, she balances conceptual ideas with very feminine visuals. The way illustrations are crafted using paper and natural shadows is exceptional. We love working with Vicky at Top Santé and look forward to the next commission
Michael Thomson - Art Director, Top Santé
We really loved working with Vicky. We noticed her artwork immediatley when trying to decide on an artist, because unlike a lot of retro artwork out there hers had a very natural and playful feel to it. Vicky took our feedback on-board, stayed enthusiastic and delivered more than we were expecting. We couldn’t have asked for more and we’re very happy to have her artwork featured in our #TileArt gallery.
Ricc Webb - Mischief Maker, Microsoft Lumia

Vicky is friendly and creative, and her style is bright, fun and very eye-catching. Working in stages from rough concept to finished art, she was open to feedback and willing to accommodate amends and a couple of extras along the way. It was an absolute pleasure working with her and hope I get the opportunity again in the near future.

I am so pleased that I was able to track Vicky Scott down after a chance sighting of her work. Vicky interpreted the brief spot on working from just photos and my very bad drawing! Vicky’s quirky style fits in wonderfully with our campsite website. Thank you Vicky for doing such a grand job and being such a pleasure to work with.
