Yuka Yasutomi’s live sketching service is the perfect way to bring entertainment and custom-made gifts to your event. With delicate, sophisticated line work and soft yet expressive flourishes of colour, Yuka captures the unique beauty of her sitter – for a special moment they’ll always remember.

Originally from Japan and now based in Los Angeles, Yuka has a style ideally suited to high-end fashion and beauty brands launching new collections and retail promotions. Visitors are thrilled to see her draw, and receiving a personalised keepsake by an experienced fashion illustrator builds engagement, awareness, loyalty and a priceless emotional connection with the host’s brand. Previously a designer working in fashion, Yuka has a strong awareness of the industry and what makes each brand special. She practices daily to explore new styles and keep her skills sharp. As well as fashion events she draws live at corporate parties, press launches, brand activations, weddings and more.

Approach

To prepare for an event, Yuka learns as much as she can about her client, the brand’s personality and the concept behind the event. Depending on what the client is looking for, she can adapt the format, style and template, and can add guest names to illustrations on request. She works mainly in ink and watercolour.

Style

At the entrance, pigeons gather for their own party, weaving together each individual's voice and story in the cacophony of this diverse city.

The afternoon sun streams in, casting light on the bustling crowd of children just out of school, with bicycles and cars tangled together. The air is thick with the aroma of herbs. As snowflakes gently settle on rooftops and balconies, everything is enveloped in a profound silence. The traffic lights glow, but there are few pedestrians. She waits for someone here. This solitary moment is also a quintessential part of New York.

It captures one of the unique corners of New York City. The dim lighting, orange seats, swaying carriages, and enigmatic odors in the corners all contribute to the atmosphere. Oh, who knows what else might happen? I just want to reach my stop quickly.

An illustration created for Brooklyn's famous beach and amusement park, Coney Island and Luna Park. This place is always brimming with sounds and excitement, with the summer sky and beach etched in everyone's memory. New Yorkers come here, waiting for even more thrilling performances, more exhilarating than any roller coaster.

For my favorite bookstore, The Argosy Book Store, I created an illustration. I always enjoy passing by there, stepping inside to soak in the atmosphere, and picking out a book that I like. Collecting them brings me extra happiness. I would imagine the afternoon sunlight streaming through, casting its glow upon the floor, while the books hold even more stories, waiting to be discovered.

In the theme "My Dream Studio," I designed a dreamlike, colorful print room that reflects my ideal vision. Everything is represented in my preferred graphics. For this piece, I used Riso color to bring out the magical quality of the illustration, with colors that are more pure and vibrant.

Inspired by a little witch telling stories at night, I created an illustration that was transformed into an animated graphic using motion graphics. The overall blue hue evokes the night and the moon held in her hands. The aim was to showcase the illustration's decorative elements and cohesive color scheme while providing both visual dynamism and a static aesthetic, narrating an engaging and whimsical story.
