An Enchanting Journey

The front cover illustration for "The Haunted Wood" has been masterfully crafted by the talented Rohan Eason.

Written by Sam Leith, author and journalist at The Spectator,  "The Haunted Wood" stands as the first definitive history of children’s literature, tracing its lineage from the ancient tales of Aesop, through the Victorian and Edwardian eras, up to contemporary classics.

Rohan was very proud to be chosen to design the cover for a book that encompasses such a rich array of marvellous works of children’s fiction, many of which are personal favourites, and many more that he looks forward to sharing with his own child.

The wood, a timeless setting for many children’s tales, provides a backdrop of both fear and magic, surprise and familiarity. The illustration features two children venturing together, evoking the universal feeling of connecting with a character in a book. "It is a cover that almost drew itself", says Rohan.
