A graduate in art direction from The Higher School of Advertising and Marketing in São Paulo, and an experienced graphic designer, Mel is well versed in the creative process and works flexibly with clients to bring their vision to life. Whether you want graphical imagery or inventive typography to feature in your project, Mel will create the imagery in her unique style and ensure it communicates your message with verve and dynamism. Though Mel’s artwork is big and bold, she’s a diligent and detail-oriented artist who gets to grips with the bigger thinking behind each brief. Inspiration can come from anywhere – from making things with her kids to Brazilian culture to urban art and even idle doodling. Certain iconic elements often repeat in her work like rainbows, flowers, smileys, fire, the sun and hearts. You gotta love it!

Approach

Most projects begin with sketches on paper or in Procreate but can easily branch out into other media using collage and more. Via an intuitive process, she builds a composition and colour palette for a punchy, exciting outcome.

Style

Colour, joy, fun and expressiveness are cornerstones of Mel’s style, with little hints of texture, imperfection and contrast, plus lots of bounce. Through collage, she’s able to combine diverse aesthetics and styles within a single piece.
