Vivid artwork depicting the psychology of conspiracy theories

Seeing Belief

Li Zhang visualises how conspiracy theories take hold in a striking illustration for Northeastern University.

Li created a vivid conceptual image to accompany an article exploring why so many people believe in conspiracy theories, especially in the wake of the Trump assassination attempt.

Her artwork captures the tension between perception and paranoia through surreal imagery: a central figure framed by radiant eyes, UFOs, and shadowy symbols of misinformation. The bold neon palette heightens the sense of intrigue and unease, reflecting how truth and illusion intertwine in the digital age.

The illustration accompanies Northeastern Global News’ feature, “More people believe in conspiracy theories than you might think,” available now here.
