City of Character

A celebration of Baltimore's people, places and local traditions sits at the heart of a new cover illustration by Philipp. Alongside custom lettering, the German illustrator brought together a range of city symbols, including Maryland crabs, Orioles, Ravens, dragon boats, snowballs and the Baltimore skyline, creating a vibrant visual snapshot of the city and its character.

The issue's additional theme, The Helpers, highlights individuals and organisations giving back to their communities. Philipp explored ways of weaving that idea into the cover through motifs such as helping hands and heart symbols, ensuring it sat naturally alongside the wider celebration of Baltimore. In addition to the cover artwork, he also created six spot illustrations to introduce the magazine's individual chapters.
