Rosanna had creative freedom when illustrating this new picture-book biography of Berthe Morisot. Working from a loose brief, she developed each spread in response to the author's writing and Morisot's paintings, allowing the story to guide the composition and flow of the artwork.
The project also gave Rosanna the chance to spend time with a figure she found deeply inspiring. Drawing on Morisot's use of light, texture and brushwork, she wove subtle references to Impressionism throughout the book while maintaining her own distinctive approach, using delicate linework and layered textures to help tell the story.
