Great White Pelicans illustration St. James’s Park

This illustration (and surface pattern series) was inspired by the White Pelicans of St. James’s Park in London. Introduced in 1664, they have become a beloved presence in the city. Near the lake in St. James’s Park, you can see them waddling around the park, sunning themselves, being fed fresh fish, and pushing tourists off of the park benches! These are Great White Pelicans, but in Spring they are tinged pink. This is from changes in diet and also indicates when they are in breeding season.
