After 12 years creating visual effects on movies like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Kingdom of God, Alex Broeckel saw the light and decided to turn his brilliant CGI skills to the craft of illustration. With an amazing talent and an imagination to match, Alex can bring just about any idea to life in a unique and creative way. A beard made out of tentacles? No problem. Cutaway of a domestic boiler? Coming right up. A glowing product render? Alex will make it an object of desire.
Inspired by artists as varied as Tim White, Hajime Sorayama and Craig Mullins, Alex is praised by his clients not just for his creativity but for his pro-active approach to their campaigns. He’s great at anticipating issues and dealing with them so that projects can move forward smoothly. Alex is an artist who has fun doing what he does, which is reflected in his portfolio.
Completely self-trained, Alex loves working with a whole array of software. As well as his 3D modelling and rendering skills he’s an accomplished digital painter using Photoshop, and there’s no stopping him when it comes to mixing techniques and styles to create exactly what his client is looking for.
From an airbrushed look through to traditional painting or shiny 3D renders, Alex can produce illustrations in just about any style. He loves gritty photorealism just as much as conjuring up a hyper-real sense of lavish CGI perfection.
Alex’s clients include Netflix, Deutsche Telecom, T-Mobile, BASF, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Native Instruments, Pioneer, Pfizer, ILM and more.
