Any fresh idea and any medium Cat can get her hands on can be turned into imaginative imagery with a message, a story to tell – and just a hint of mayhem. Drawings are just the beginning as she tackles printmaking, t-shirts, zine publishing and filmmaking with the same radical eye and comic book-inspired style.
Music, film, radio and modernist architecture are just some of Cat’s influences, and she studied Graphic Design at UAL London College of Communication before launching her illustration and printmaking career.
Cat likes to mix things up and looks for different ways to combine handmade and digital elements in her work. Usually, rough sketches are scanned in and progressed in Photoshop and Illustrator, bringing in texture, light and colour.
Originally, Cat loved working in black and white but her newer works are introducing bold splashes of colour. Narrative is always a strong element in her imagery, which is based on line work, lots of clever detail, and texture. The latter is often derived from printing techniques such as halftones.
