Juliet Percival

Juliet Percival - International medical & line illustrator. UK

Working from her studio in Durham, Juliet is in demand for her skills creating unique maps, travel illustrations, architecture and lifestyle pieces. With a prodigious creative talent honed at Falmouth College of Arts (where she achieved a First Class degree in Illustration), she brings an individual, warm personal aesthetic and creative touch to every client’s project. Her portfolio includes editorial and book publishing as well as maps for signage and outdoor interpretation panels.

Each piece begins as sensitive graphite line work. The initial drawing is scanned in, sometimes with a subtle watercolour background, and coloured digitally using Photoshop’s brushes. The strength of the lines in the image can be adjusted to the client’s wishes.

Juliet’s work ranges from detailed studies to a much looser drawing style, usually with a soft, restrained colour palette. The spontaneity and personality brought by the hand of the artist makes her images more approachable and engaging than many textbook illustrations.

It was a pleasure working with Juliet on our map of Corfu. She interpreted the brief well, and used her style to produce an eye-catching and vibrant map that worked beautifully in the magazine. The drawings were provided on time, and we were very pleased with both her attitude to the job, and the work she produced.
Helen Richardson - Deputy Art Director, Jamie magazine
Juliet was an absolute joy to work with. She interpreted my sketches really well and created beautiful illustrations based on them. Juliet’s work has really enhanced our website and regularly receives positive comments from our clients
Trevor Morgan - Managing Director, Nulty Bespoke
I worked on a large book project with Juliet over the course of several months and really enjoyed the process. She is an amazing person and a delight to work with. Nothing was too much trouble - she was brilliant at collaborating and accommodating all the small details I felt necessary to make the job just right. She is a great team worker but at the same time retains her very own individual style which manages to combine accuracy with artistic fluidity – a rare skill.
Nichola Fletcher, MBE - Foodwriter and Silversmith, Nichola Fletcher
Juliet is a gem. She’s able to turn our obtuse chicken-scratch input into beautifully crafted illustrations that make our products look great. She always delivers on schedule, even though we’re half a world apart. Maybe best of all, Juliet is a true joy to work with.
Jay Hoeschler - Design Director, Avid Trails
Our organisation has commissioned Juliet to produce illustrations for us on several occasions in recent years. Every piece of work has been of top quality in her unique style of artwork. She approached each commission in a professional manner and always met agreed deadlines. This professional approach is just as important as the work itself and is not always found in client relationships. We would have no hesitation engaging Juliet on any future commission and can recommend her unreservedly.
Paul Turgoose, Durham Pointers
Juliet is an extremely talented illustrator who has carried out several illustrated commissions for me, most of which have been complex in terms of information which needed to be clearly shown within a limited space and also needed to completed within a tight timescale, both of which she was able to do admirably and still maintain a smile despite numerous amends! I would have no hesitation in recommending Juliet for your illustration needs.
