Mark Watkinson - Graphic Design and Line Illustrator

Clean, clear and impactful graphic illustrations are the forte of the Lincolnshire based artist Mark Watkinson. It’s fair to say that Mark’s early interest in mechanics shows through in his imagery, but also that he made the right choice pursuing a career in art. He’s been a successful freelance illustrator since the early 80s, when he graduated in Graphic Design from the Lincoln College of Art. Influences include Gavin MacLeod and Mick Brownfield.

Approach

Keep it clean, clear and simple is Mark’s mantra. He works in Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as using traditional media.

Style

Mark’s style is very graphic with strong line work and geometry, and he often employs flat colours. His work is ideal for ‘how to’ images, ‘behind the scenes’ illustrations and infographics, and he’s a master of isometric viewpoints, cutaways and the blueprint look. Mark enjoys tackling technical challenges, but also produces more playful and conceptual work.
