Joseph McDermott - Illustrateur inspiré du Lichtenstein international. Etats-Unis

Le style simple et percutant de la bande dessinée des années 1960 est la spécialité de l'artiste de Philadelphie Joseph McDermott, et en utilisant son expérience et son imagination, il trouve toujours des moyens de rendre l'esthétique pertinente pour le brief de son client. De petites touches comme les motifs de points d'encre et les textures de papier en détresse ajoutent à l'authenticité de ses créations.
Sans surprise, Joe a toujours été obsédé par la bande dessinée en grandissant et a constamment dessiné des panneaux et recréé des scènes mettant en vedette ses personnages préférés. Maintenant, sa passion est sa carrière, créant des images du Lichtenstein basées presque entièrement sur des bandes dessinées de l'âge d'argent. Les influences les plus récentes incluent Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware et Charles Burns. Joe est titulaire d'un BA en histoire de l'art du Messiah College en Pennsylvanie et a suivi une formation en dessin, peinture, sculpture, sérigraphie, typographie et photographie.

Approche

Dans un sens, Joe travaille traditionnellement. Il esquisse et affine tout d'abord, avant de colorier et de terminer l'image. Cependant, tout cela se fait numériquement à l'aide de l'application SketchBook Pro, avec Illustrator et Photoshop.

Style

Le style de bande dessinée vintage de Joe vous rappellera certainement l'approche de Roy Lichtenstein envers le Pop Art, jusqu'à la réplication d'écrans à points d'encre qui reflètent les techniques d'impression du 20e siècle. En fait, bon nombre des pinceaux et des motifs en demi-teintes que Joe utilise dans son travail sont de sa propre conception.
