Martin Hargreaves Black and White - Illustratrice de pastiches internationaux. Royaume-Uni

L'histoire et l'humour s'entremêlent à merveille dans les illustrations de l'artiste britannique Martin Hargreaves, et grâce à sa polyvalence, il crée des œuvres variées, allant des pastiches imitant les grands maîtres aux créatures fantastiques en passant par les natures mortes. Son talent unique lui a valu des clients dans la publicité, l'édition jeunesse, la presse écrite et même au palais de Hampton Court.
La plus grande source d'inspiration de Martin est la peinture classique, notamment chez Hogarth, Holbein, Rembrandt et Piazzetta. D'ailleurs, il confie que s'il pouvait voyager dans le temps, il visiterait le XVIIIe siècle. Outre son amour pour l'art de la Renaissance, il apprécie également la musique classique. Martin travaille dans un cabanon de son jardin, doté de grandes fenêtres offrant une vue sur ses pommiers et les collines ondulantes du Sussex de l'Est. Il est titulaire d'une licence en illustration de l'Institut polytechnique de Brighton (aujourd'hui Université de Brighton).

Approche

Martin travaille avec des techniques traditionnelles – peinture à l'huile, aquarelle, encre – mais il maîtrise également les modifications numériques. Le crayon 2B est son outil artistique préféré.

Styles

Maître de l'art du pastiche, Martin est capable de reproduire n'importe quel style classique imaginable, d'une manière qui corresponde au cahier des charges.
