Stranded!

Published by Barefoot Books, 'Stranded! is a mostly true story from Iceland' written by Ævar Pór Benediktsson and illustrated beautifully by Anne.

The author recounts a story of his grandfather's explorations, when as a young man he visited a newly formed volcanic island called Surtsey and was stranded for a day and night, on ground with boot-melting heat and a lack of food and water.

Anne's distinctive artwork fills the book with a hot palette evoking the atmosphere of the island, and also includes information on the culture of Iceland, volcanoes and Norse mythology.

The book has some great reviews from Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews, and before publication was honoured with a gold standard medal from the Junior Library Guild, so can now be found in all American libraries.
