Austin, Mapped

Vicky Scott captures Austin’s sights and flavours for Gravy magazine in a bright illustrated map.

Commissioned by Gravy magazine, the piece reimagines Austin as a continuous ribbon of river, food and culture. From Barton Springs Pool to the Austin Central Library, Vicky threads together local icons with casual divers, cyclists, musicians and taco joints, allowing the city to unfold as a lived-in landscape rather than a checklist of stops.

Her pared-back shapes and confident colour palette keep the composition clear and legible, while small narrative details reward a closer look.

The result is both guide and keepsake, capturing the spirit of the city in a format that feels generous, accessible and distinctly her own.
