Débora Islas is a Brazilian illustrator who is astoundingly versatile and has a pure talent for drawing. From cut and paste paper creations to colorful artistic representations through to highly rendered realism and photo-based artworks, she works closely with her clients to nail the perfect medium, style and color scheme for every project she creates.
With a degree in Graphic Design from Universidade Paulista, Débora has worked in publishing companies, giving her an in-depth understanding of the creative process and how today’s brands communicate. Creatively, she never stands still, and on top of her degree has studied art direction, watercolor, photojournalism, infographics, illustrative lettering and more.
Nature and its rich detail and colors inspire her, as does photography – particularly the works of Julia Rodrigues, Júlia Amaral and Nani Rodrigues. Visual artists she admires include Lucila Dominguez, Priscila Barbosa and Brunna Mancuso.
Highly skilled with pencils, crayons, watercolors, gouache and digital techniques, Débora constantly experiments, bringing various media together to push the boundaries while conveying the right message. She enjoys working in fine strokes, with a soft, feminine palette and tries to include nature in her work.
Realism, Stylized, Sketch, Collage – Débora creates in a range of styles. From highly accurate photo-real work through to looser sketching and graphical representations, she’ll deliver the right tone for her client’s project.
Client list Débora’s clients include Condé Nast, Abril, Globo, Faber-Castell, Staedtler, UOL, Itaú, Avon, O Boticário, Estadão, Camicado and Tok&Stok.
