Marina, A Story about Plastic and the Planet aims is written by Jesse Byrd and aims to raise awareness among children and encourage them to take small steps to protect the environment.

Charming artwork with friendly characters and a pleasing palette narrate the tale, Andressa explains, "The story revolves around a young girl named Marina who throws away a plastic wrapper on her sandwich without realizing the harm it can cause to the environment. The story takes the readers on a journey of the plastic wrapper after it is thrown away by Marina. It ends up disturbing a series of sea creatures, affecting their health and well-being. Eventually, the plastic wrapper ends up on a beach where Marina and her family are playing. This experience opens Marina's eyes to the harmful effects of single-use plastics and motivates her to learn more and take action to help the planet. Throughout the story, Marina learns about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling plastics."
