90 Candles

The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration celebrates the great artist's birthday with 90 illustrated candles, one of which is created by Montana Forbes.

On 16th December 2022, Quentin Blake turned 90 and to mark the event, the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration (formerly House of Illustration), invited 90 illustrators to draw a candle inspired by the original meaning of the word 'Illustration' – to light up, make light and illuminate.

The illustrations were put together into a book and presented to Quentin as a surprise on his birthday. Montana adds, "It was a wonderful idea to illustrate and such an honour to be a part of this campaign! For a limited time, special edition prints can be purchased on the online shop and every purchase will support Quentin's vision for a national centre for illustration in the UK, which is set to open in 2024.
