Earth Overshoot Day

Today is Earth Overshoot Day, an important day in the calendar year.

The day marks the moment that humanity's consumption of resources for the year exceeds Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources for the same year. In 2023, we’ve exhausted nature’s budget by 2nd August.

We are proud to be partnered with WeForest who are working to #MoveTheDate through forest and landscape restoration, empowering local communities and fostering sustainable land management.

Forests are a simple, nature-based solution to mitigate climate change. To stay below a temperature rise of 1.5°, we need to remove the excess carbon from our atmosphere. Reforestation and restoration measures could remove approximately 29% of the total needed – around 210 billion tonnes.
