Stylized black-and-white character art for Xuxa Meneghel’s newest music video

Xuxa’s Comeback

Guilherme Francini's black-and-white character commission pays tribute to Rita Lee in a landmark return for Brazil’s Queen of the Children.

Guilherme was recently commissioned to create black-and-white character illustrations for the latest video clip by iconic pop culture figure Xuxa Meneghel.

Celebrated as the “Queen of the Children” throughout the 1990s, Xuxa remains a household name in Brazil and has just released XSPB14, marking the long-awaited return of her children’s music project after a nine-year pause.

The video clip for the single “Preto e Branco” serves as a heartfelt tribute to another beloved Brazilian icon, the late Rita Lee—hailed as the country’s Queen of Rock’n’Roll. Xuxa personally invited Guilherme to collaborate on the project, having previously illustrated all of Rita Lee’s children’s books.

His distinct monochrome style offers a nostalgic yet fresh visual language that beautifully bridges the legacy of both queens for a new generation.
