The World That Lives in Me

Débora Islas paints a tender portrait of self-discovery for Luca Guadagnini’s O Mundo que Habita em Mim.

Commissioned by Editora Seguinte, an imprint of Companhia das Letras, Débora was asked to illustrate the cover for O Mundo que Habita em Mim (The World That Lives in Me), the debut novel by Luca Guadagnini.

Aimed at young adults aged 16+, the story follows Igor, a theater student navigating grief, love, identity, and the dream of stepping into the world as his truest self.

Débora's artwork reflects this inner journey with striking symbolism. The dreamy purples and rich textures capture both the vulnerability and power of coming-of-age and coming out, echoing the novel’s central message of self-discovery and expression.
