Retro Comic Props

For the newly released seventh season of Black Mirror, Butcher Billy was commissioned to create a set of retro-inspired comic book covers as hero props for the much-anticipated return to the USS Callister universe in the episode Into Infinity.

Tasked by the show’s production design team, BB crafted aged, pulp-style artwork for fictional issues of Space Fleet - each packed with deliberate visual nods to the broader Black Mirror multiverse. These blink-and-you’ll-miss-them moments were designed to reward eagle-eyed viewers with a sense of eerie familiarity.

A playful homage to classic comics and a layered storytelling device, this commission showcases BB's signature pop culture remix style at its most narrative-driven.
