Commissioned by SanSan Chen of Latitude Agency Pte Ltd, Gail was tasked with designing a series of sculptural illustrations for Raffles Hotel Singapore’s mooncake presentation boxes - a luxurious seasonal tradition rooted in the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Known for her intricate paper artistry, Gail proposed the concept of ‘moon blooms’ - night-flowering plants imbued with cultural symbolism and quiet beauty. The result is a breathtaking all-white composition: a central outer box adorned with a Moon Moth, evoking luck and transformation, and four delicately crafted inner boxes featuring lotus, wisteria, moonflower, and cereus.
Each bloom was carefully chosen to reflect the mooncake’s ingredients or the mystical qualities of the night, turning this packaging into a tactile story of love, ritual and renewal.
The work was deservedly longlisted in the World Illustration Awards, celebrating its elegance and emotional resonance.
