For Klaus, what began as a one-panel comic strip has grown into a full-fledged series with a loveable canine hero at its heart.
Originally commissioned by Hamburg PR agencies for children’s pages in local cooperative magazines, the comic found a permanent home in HAUSPOST, the member magazine of the Sachsenwald building cooperative.
Set against the backdrop of Reinbek and the surrounding forest, the comic stars Waldi, a spirited dachshund who shares quiet thoughts with the neighbourhood kids while saving the day in his own way - like alerting families to fires or offering wise, silent support.
Now, to mark the cooperative’s 75th anniversary, twelve of these charming stories have been collected into a commemorative booklet, designed in collaboration with Tine Falk.
With expressive characters, storylines linked to magazine themes, and a mix of humor and local heart, Klaus' work shows how comics can bring community spirit to the page.
