The Music of the Clouds

Camila Gray turns music, loss and longing into cover art for Mundo Cristão.

Camila was asked by São Paulo–based publisher Mundo Cristão to create the cover for A Música das Nuvens, a young adult novel by Arlene Diniz aimed at readers aged 13 and up.

Responding to a story steeped in music, displacement and emotional resilience, Camila’s artwork weaves together softness and tension, echoing the novel’s coastal setting and its shifting emotional weather. The cover captures protagonist Alissa’s journey through loss, prejudice and fragile hope, using visual rhythm and mood to mirror the idea of melodies drifting, breaking and reforming in the wind.

Designed to sit prominently across retail and online book listings in Brazil, the illustration balances sensitivity with narrative pull, inviting readers into a story where dark clouds never quite erase the possibility of dreaming.
