Canteen Mural

Brighton's IKEA commissions Donough O'Malley to create murals for the staff canteen during Pride month and the store's first birthday celebrations.

The communications team at IKEA Brighton asked Donough to transform the staff canteen with artwork that reflected both Pride month and the store's connection to the city as it approached its first anniversary.

Donough responded with a playful collection of local references and oversized characters, including a towering merman, giant pink Allen keys and flying meatballs.

One idea, a cowboy riding a hot dog shaped like a banana boat, proved a little too much for a lunchtime setting and was left on the drawing board!
