Castles

Studio Duco illustrates Dan Jones’ Castles: A Fortified History of the World for Head of Zeus, part of Bloomsbury Publishing.

Spanning more than 3,000 years of history, from the ancient walls of Troy to Europe’s medieval strongholds, Castles is the latest book from bestselling historian and author Dan Jones, who is also known for his work in television and podcasting. A major publication for Head of Zeus this year, the book is being supported by a tour following its release.

Studio Duco created the cover and 14 full-page illustrations, each carefully researched to reflect the architecture and character of its subject. Their etching-inspired style uses intricate linework and a limited golden palette to give these historic sites a sense of atmosphere and detail.
