Venetian Plates

Camila Gray creates a series of illustrated plates for Spoleto's long-running collectible dish collection.

Collectible plates have become something of a tradition at Spoleto, one of Brazil's largest Italian restaurant chains, with customers looking forward to each new series since the programme began in 2003. For this year's edition, Camila was asked to respond to Encantos de Veneza, taking the city's canals, architecture and atmosphere as her starting point.

Camila drew on her vivid use of colour for the series, creating fluid, painterly illustrations that echo the feel of hand-painted ceramics.
