Creating a six-volume fantasy classic that feels as though it has travelled through centuries of history is no small task. This project required Svetlana to design original hand-lettered titles for every book, alongside decorative title pages and the cover for the deluxe edition.
The series was conceived as a collection of antique volumes that might sit on the shelves of Melniboné itself. While each book is distinguished by its own emblem, drawn from a key moment in the story, the set was designed to work as a cohesive whole when placed together.
For the title pages, Svetlana drew on historical ornament and manuscript traditions, creating intricate borders that echo the grandeur and decline woven throughout Moorcock's world.
