Pacific Trash

Jürgen Willbarth creates a finely detailed passport crest illustration for the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

On World’s Oceans Day, The Plastic Ocean Foundation and Ladbible handed an application to the United Nations to declare an area of trash the size of France floating in the north Pacific an official country. Jurgen's part in the campaign, was to create the crest for a passport for the new country, which features Al Gore - a supporter of the project. In addition, Michael Hughes, Dalatando Almeida and Mario Kerkstra worked with Tony Wilson at Jelly London Kitchen to create a set of bank notes that depicted all manner of wildlife being brutalized by ocean debris. Read more about the campaign in De Zeen and in Design Week.
