Paul Daviz

Paul Daviz - Graphic illustrator specialising in books, packaging, editorial and advertising.

Draw. Draw. Draw. This has been the story of Paul Daviz’s life from an early age. He drew on his schoolbooks, drew when he got a job in a pyjama factory, and built up an extraordinary portfolio of imagery which won him work storyboarding TV commercials, animated productions, packaging and print campaigns for top London agencies.
Originally from Blackburn, today Paul is a vastly experienced illustrator confident working in a whole range of cartoony styles, and still draws on a daily basis. His original inspiration was a copy of MAD magazine handed to him when he was 10, and sometimes you can still spot that irreverent humour in Paul’s work. He loves Soviet matchbox covers, produced using only two colours, and 1970s cinema advertising, which was cheap but effective. Other talents include playing an eight-string lap steel guitar in the Carter County country band.

Approach

Paul has maintained his line and wash cartoony roots, and each rough begins as a pen on paper sketch. The work is then converted to vector graphics, finding its final shape on screen where he perfects the colours.

Styles

Big, bold shapes, sweeping lines, strong colours, hints of texture and plenty of fun – Paul’s strong draughtsmanship and drawing skills shine through across the range of cartoony styles he excels in.

Client list

Paul works for a range of global clients including Canon, Ryder Trucks, Honda, BMW, British Airways, DHL, Yamaha, HarperCollins, Ravensburger, Whiskas and many more.
