Pevê Azevedo is an illustrator based in São Paulo, Brazil who works in a punchy, graphical style. From surreal characters through to colourful scenes full of nuance and texture, Pevê is an artist who brings flexibility and fun to everything he touches.
Flicking through his portfolio, it’s no surprise to learn that Pevê’s talent as an illustrator is backed up by 10 years of experience working as an art director in advertising. He knows exactly how to catch your eye with a colourful brushstroke, but equally he understands how to interpret a brief and deliver his client’s dream artwork.
People who’ve worked with Pevê point out that he’s very deadline conscious, and always brings something extra to a project. His influences include Pablo Picasso, Tarsila do Amaral, Armando Barrios and René Magritte.
Working digitally, Pevê always focuses on the final composition. He aims for a balanced image but there is always a little room for the unexpected – something to spark a question in the viewer’s mind.
Contemporary and infused with the warmth and colour of his homeland, Pevê’s style is graphical and expressive. The look of each illustration is honed to meet his client’s brief and brand direction. Strong shapes combine with tactile textures in well-designed compositions.
Pevê is fluent in Portuguese, with strong written English.
